I am Yongchao Xie, raised in Huangshan City, China. I obtained B.S. and M.S. from Nanjing University, majored in environmental science/engineering. Obsessed with the tremendous power of microorganisms in the environment, I completed my Ph.D. study in Dr. Löffler’s lab at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, studying environmental microbiology and searching for natural solutions to anthropogenic pollutants, especially fluorinated chemicals. Now, I am interested in incorporating electrochemical techniques to establish the electrical-biological hybrid demonstrating advanced defluorination capability. I spent most of my spare time in watching and playing basketball.
